The 2015 earthquakes left the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square in a dire state. As part of post-earthquake recovery and rehabilitation efforts the Department of Archaeology is boosting its commitment to save, sort and establish an inventory of dispersed timber elements. The initiative is being carried out with support from UNESCO, Hanumandhoka Palace Maintenance Office and in collaboration with Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum Development Committee, coordinated by ICOMOS Nepal.

“The initiative plays a vital role in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of monuments which are part of the historic Hanumandhoka Protected Monument Zone.
